It’s Important To Ask Your Mover Some Questions

When you have decided to relocate, the first move of yours is most likely to be your request for moving quotes. Then you start receiving calls from the moving companies. Your initial questions should be in relation to the company’s address, the number of employees, any memberships with a moving association etc. What you must not consider are the answers given by the companies but the way your questions were answered. By now you must have narrowed your list to only a couple of moving companies. Ask them to come over to your home for an on-site assessment of your items and goods so as to land a close to accurate estimate.

Coming over to the crucial questions, you should be asking the moving company. Start with “How long have you been working as an agent for giving estimates?” Experience matters a lot while you would want somebody who is conversant with this profession. Ask the agent if he was working as a driver prior to taking up the role of an estimator. He should be willing to discuss his background and enjoy talking. Next ask about since how long their company has been around. If it is close to ten years, that is a good indicator and a useful insight. However, that should not be the only basis of closing in on the appropriate moving company. Now ask about the type of quotes they offer and the delivery schedule and procedures they follow. It is a nice way of learning about how knowledgeable he or she seems and if they are willing to take the effort to explain the things in detail. Also ask them if they get repeat businesses in your area and if they can provide any references. That can get you a good pointer to the quality of the work they do. At this point, ask them how they would handle your household stuff. You will most probably have precious items as well as large items which are fragile like Piano among other things. You can judge by yourself from what they say if they suit you or not. The last question but not the least is if the packers and movers are just reciting what you want to hear. This can prove to be a tough call but at the end of the day, you need to rely on your good judgment.

Once you have met the short listed movers and packers, you can compare notes and decide for yourself. However, only the cost should not be the guiding factor in finalizing the moving company. This practice must come handy in a city like Delhi where the competing moving companies are aplenty.
