2010 A Football season the Colts Would Rather Overlook

Ask any of the faithful of the Colts what has happened to the team and you’ll additional than likely not get any sort of answer. The reason for this is as a result of the reality that the team appears to have fallen apart within the past twelve games. There has been many areas that the team has seen a failure in over the past couple of seasons. 1 of the greatest areas of concern, is that of the quarterback position.

Before the fans demand that the man be replaced and given to another team, let’s look at the facts, he is one of the best quaterbacks to play the game in a long time. Few will argue that he is future Hall of Fame material and will be destined to do wonderful things on the field. The truth is that the man is going through a dry spell. While it is not common for a player to experience, it is quite fixable if the right ingredients are in place for the team.

Manning has been going through a slump as of late and this has led his team to the record that they currently have. The good news is that the team can still fix things and head into the playoff picture, the problem becomes that this as a result will mean that there is no room for mistakes in the future, one slight misstep, and the team may suffer as a result. There are four games left and the Colts need to win all four of the games to remain as a viable contender.

While Manning has dealt with his issues, there are still some players that need to get their head into the game and make the important plays later in the season. One of the biggerst areas of improvement, is that of catching the ball. Jospeh Adei is one of the players that will need to make sure that they are ready for any pass that comes at them. This is what led to the undoing of the Colts against the Cowboys, the issues that were evident, need to be gone for the rest of the season and allow for massive plays to be committed.

But not all of the problems are able to be placed on Manning, the receiving department of the team. One particular pass that Joseph Adei wishes that he had back came in overtime against the Cowboys. He had a perfect pass that was placed between the numbers, and he simply just let it slip away. These are the mistakes that need to be addressed in the final weeks. If these issues continue to persist, then the team will be faced with watching the playoffs from their homes.

While Manning is a passing machine, the true strength of the team will come from the running game that the team will have on display for the rest of the season. This is the most basic of needs for the team, the need to get the ball down the field and into the endzone for a touchdown.
