You already know that drinking soda only adds empty calories to your diet.

There is always the option to change to sugar free or diet soda but that is probably even worse than drinking regular, sugar laden, soda. The nasty additives make diet soda a bad choice for they pose health risks more than you can imagine. A quick look into the ingredient aspartame will show you just how important it is to avoid diet soda. In addition, your body cannot determine the difference between real sugar and pretend sugar, so you get a lot of the bodily reactions with diet soda than you do with regular soda.

If you have been planning to stop drinking soda, but cannot find the right way to really stop this bad habit, here are a few tips that you should consider:

First off, empty your fridge with all kinds of soda. There are times when you tell yourself you do not want to drink soda anymore but once you open your refrigerator and find plenty of cans there, you suddenly find yourself consuming the entire can of soda. Emptying your fridge is a conscious effort on your part that you really want to stop this bad habit.

Secondly, same with smoking, you do not stop this habit immediately. If you have been used to drinking for a quite a time already, caffeine takes time to leave your system. The best way to stop drinking soda is to ease out of drinking cola gently.

Third, having a soda replacement will satisfy your cravings for carbonated beverages. Keep some sparkling water in the fridge and drink that when you get the urge for soda. Maybe add a slice of lemon or lime to spruce up the taste. You can also prepare your own fruity soda drink if you have CO2 cartridge and soda chargers by combining cold water with some fruitful flavors. Homemade soda and sparkling water are a fun and economical way to enjoy healthy beverages at home. Look for soda chargers and make sure to include them in your kitchen essentials so that when you feel the need to drink soda, you can satisfy your cravings with some personalized and healthy concoctions that you prepare.

Fourth, make sure to drink plenty of water. It is already proved that drinking eight glasses a day helps in digestion, keeps you hydrated all the time, and makes you feel better.

Once you start to lessen your intake of cola, after a while, maybe after about two weeks – you will find that your tastes have started to change. What appeared attractive to you in the shape of fizzy soda is no longer as tempting. You will be surprised to find yourself instinctively asking for something other than soda. It could be water. It maybe tea or coffee (although like with soda, do not overdose on these as a soda substitutes). Alternatively, perhaps, it could be your own healthy concoction of soda replacement.

With these tips in mind, you will be able to get rid of your soda cravings. In addition to soda chargers, you may also want to equip your kitchen with a cream dispenser and whip cream charger.
