Reel in the School Spirit with Badge Reels and Lanyards!

Your high school football team is the best, the greatest, the most incredible high school football team ever—even though they haven’t won a game all season. Despite their lack of wins they are still winners to you. You have school spirit, yes you do, and everyone else in the school could use some too! Yes, winning in high school sports is important, especially if you want to fill the seats with screaming fans and get the team pumped with all of the high positive energy flowing to them from the bleachers.

Getting your school revved up and out to games will require some hard work and a great school spirit emblem; something that everyone will buy that will shout out their encouragement even if they choose to remain silent. School spirit comes in many forms; painting bare chests in school colors, drawing the school mascot on an ankle, wearing school spirit gear (t-shirts, sweaters, hoodies, hats, scarves, jackets, etc…), or plastering bumper stickers to their parent’s car.

Many students won’t even look twice at a table full of sweaters and t-shirts, especially if they have the same old thing printed on them. Instead of the same old same old, why not sell school spirit (or give it away) in the form of ID badge reels and ribbon or beaded lanyards. You may be asking, “What’s a lanyard?” That is an easy question to answer. A lanyard is the rope-like necklace that holds an ID badge in place around your neck or wrist.

Wearing a sweater to school in the summer isn’t a smart way to show school spirit, and neither is wearing a t-shirt in the winter. Wearing a lanyard or badge reel with the school mascot or team colors on it is a display of school spirit that you can wear any season!

Now, badge reels are just what you’d expect. They clip to the ID badge and allow students to pull them away from the neck for use in security ID readers (like on college campuses), or to present to security personnel (sadly, this happens often in high schools). Reels may seem like a small way to show school spirit, but when you think about the cool types of reels you’ll rethink your original assumption. Badge reels can have personalized photos, school or team colors, school mascots, or school mottos written on them.

Lanyards, those ribbons that go around your neck, can be made from nylon or can be beaded using any color or pattern or beads you can imagine. Just think! Scores of people at a home rally all wearing beaded lanyards with beads in school colors. Sure, not many of the high school boys will wear beads, but they could always get the lanyards with flames or skulls embroidered onto them.

Your high school football team may not have the best record in the league, but there are hundreds of students waiting in the wings to show their school spirit in a new and interesting way. Go Team!
