Get the students involved in the decorations. Ask them to create and decorate the party for the celebrations. This will create the buzz about the holiday, and will get them excited too. Decide on some games that the children can play during the party, and what food that the can bring. Then put some time aside, to create the decorations; these can be garlands, snowflakes, Christmas tree ornaments and many others.
You may want to get the students to bring a present in for the homeless as well. This will need to be discussed with the parents, and the school first. This will help the students to understand what Christmas is all about, and how Christmas is a celebration of giving and receiving.
Prior to the party, get the students to bring in some music for the day and for the celebrations. This will create a nice mood for the event, and make it a really festive party. The music can either be Christmas songs or songs on the radio, the choice will be between the students and you. If the students cannot bring the music, then you may have to. You may also want to consider dressing up for the event as well, and get the students to do so too.
