New Year’s Day Will See the Michigan Playing Against the Bulldogs

The Michigan Wolverines will be re-matched against the Bulldogs of Mississippi State University on New Year’s Day during the Gator Bowl Football Games. The Big 10 is represented by the Wolverines while the opposing team is a member of the Southeastern Conference. Currently, the score of the Wolverines is 7-5 in all the games and 3-5 in the Big 10 games. On the opposite end, the Bulldogs got 8-4 in the overall score and 4-4 in the southeastern Conference Games. The Michigan Wolverines have not made in to the top 25 of the Big 10 and the Bulldogs are number 17 in the Southeastern conference. In the last Gator Bowl, Florida managed a 33-21 victory over West Virginia.

The announcement of the match between the Wolverines and the Bulldogs was not expected. Anticipation was for Michigan to play against Florida (6-6). However, the excitement generated by the announcement was no less intense.

Rich Rodriguez, the new coach of the Wolverines will be guiding his athletes for the first time in a Gator Bowl game this January. This will be the third time that the Wolverines will get to play in the Gator Bowl Games. The first time was in December 28, 1979 when they were defeated by North Carolina 17-15. They played again in January 1, 1997, defeating Missouri with a score of 35-3. And then in January, 2007, they humbled Florida with a score of 41-35 in the Capital One Bowl Games.

New Year’s game will be the first time the two teams are pitted against each other. The total score of the Michigan Wolverines in their games against members of the Southeastern Conference is 23-5-1.

The Michigan Wolverines are among the All-Time Winningest Football Programs in the country, having bagged a total of 42 Big 10 Conference titles. They also won the National Championships 11 times. Since their win over Florida in 2007 they put out a consistently low 3-9 for the past two years under new coach, Rich Rodriguez. There are rumors that if all doesn’t go well with the coming Gator Bowl match, a forthcoming change of coach is coming for the Michigan Wolverines.

On the other hand, the Bulldogs did fairly well this year, defeating all but the most formidable members of the Southeastern Conference.

The Gator Bowl officials are expecting a large turnout of fans from both sides as well as wide television coverage for the event. They anticipate that fans will be eager to see the Michigan Wolverines pickup where they left off this season after winning 5 games straight in a row and losing 5 of the next 7 games. However, the general perception seems to the that quarterback Denard Robinson of the Wolverines is being made to run the play for the entire team. And when gets worn out, the team’s performance goes down.

Hopes are high that coach Rich Rodriguez is cooking up a new technique that can evenly distribute responsibility inside the game to all of the team members and not to focus solely on the powerful style of quarterback Denard Robinson. His career may well well depend on that new approach winning the game for the Michigan Wolverines
