Never Get the Common Cold

Where staying healthy is concerned, we all know just how important it is to take in enough Vitamin C. People are instructed repeatedly how beneficial Vitamin C is to staying healthy. What’s one thing you’re told after you get a cold? “Take some Vitamin C!” Today, however, there is a tiny bit of concern about if Vitamin C would stop the common cold at all.

By now you have no doubt been told about Echinacea. The main concept of Echinacea is that, if you take it when those first few cold symptoms start to manifest, you will be able to make the cold stay away. Just lately, however, studies have proven that Echinacea provides little more than a placebo effect for the people suffering from cold and flu symtoms. The greatest the product can do is shorten your cold by twenty hours. It is just not a cure.

How does one keep the colds from getting the better of an individual? Here are a few ideas to actually give you a hand.

1. Wash the hands. Wash the hands a lot. This is perhaps the best and most effective way to keep the common cold at a distance. Why does this method do the job as well as it does? Give it some thought. Our hands and wrists come into contact with a lot more cold and flu virus than any other part of our body. Think of all of the stuff you touch during a day. You increase your odds of coming down with something whenever you touch anything that has already been touched by someone suffering from a cold or the flu. If you scrub your hands a lot, you will be far less likely to let any of the bacterias that you have made contact with get into your system and grab hold.

2. Get lots and lots of rest. Staying up late might be extremely tempting, particularly when your life is tense. You want to get far more work done. Maybe you need to spend more time with your friends. There’s a show you would like to watch. Doing this, however, significantly reduces the rest you will get. Rest helps your system find the energy to drive back infections that want to hurt you. When you happen to be sleeping and asleep the body has a chance to do maintenance and make repairs. The more sleep you get, the easier a time the body will have preventing infection and then getting rid of it if it happens to take hold of you anyway.

3. Stay hydrated. In order to stay alive, you should consume at least sixty four ounces of water every day. Staying properly hydrated is how one’s body is able to flush the toxins out of your system. If you haven’t been effectively hydrated the germs in your system will only hang out and get stronger instead of being forced out. Don’t forget: you can go at least seven days without eating solid food before you die. Without drinking water, you’ll only last a day or two. Doesn’t this kind of make the importance of suitable hydration hit home?

Here’s the thing: there is no magical remedy for the flu. All you will have is good sense and taking preventative measures like washing your hands, getting enough rest and staying hydrated.
