Make Your Own Professional Brochures

The biggest challenge to any company is how to get their products or services recognized in the market. To a marketing executive, this is the ultimate challenge. Most of the time, marketing executives use advertising campaigns to achieve the goal of establishing a recognizable product or service. These professionals have a wide array of tools they can choose from to achieve the goal of brand recognition: flyer printing materials, color brochure printing materials, booklet printing pieces, catalogs, and poster printing items.

Most of the time, marketing efforts may seem useless because of the unnoticeable change in customer patronage. Bear in mind however, that significant changes could only be felt after a while. Successful marketing campaign is a continuing activity – a work in progress if you like. One successful campaign does not necessarily translate to profits. Think about how the relentless campaign of Pepsi or Coca-cola and this will give you an idea why they are a million dollar worth brands.

Here are a few things you should know when you have your print brochures developed. These are basic things you should know to guide you if your brochure printing company is doing a good job.

First, before you start any brochure printing project, be sure that you know who you target audience is. You must be able to define who will eventually read through your print brochures. Try to answer basic questions like, ‘What services are they looking for?’ Or, ‘What are their problems and what benefits can my company provide?’ These questions will help you develop the message of your quality brochures.

Second, get to know the other players. Your competition should define how you design your custom brochures. A little bit of research can give a great deal of insight into what other companies are doing. Look online and search out other competitors, perhaps outside of your local area. If you are doing your search online, try various search engines to get different results.

Third, get as many samples as you can. Many companies begin their print brochures project without any idea of what their brochure would look like.  What they normally do is to wait for the dummy from the designers and then they say, ‘Nope. That is not what I had mind.’ These trial and error approach is not only time consuming, it also has some cost implications. Without a good general direction to give your designer, you are wasting time and a lot of precious resources. The best way to get you started is to find a few different samples of materials that you like. If you go to a trade show, pick up a few pieces that you think would work well for your business. Be sure to send your designer any past brochures or catalogs that you have done – why these worked, or did not work for your business.

Fourth, start collecting your raw materials. Unless you are a start-up company, you probably have a bank of graphics that you use, logos, product photos, even perhaps descriptions of your business which you have commissioned before. By gathering these, you save a lot of time when your brochure printing company requires these from you. The most common problem is the lack of hi-res images for product shots. What is often available are useless lo-res images from the web.

Finally, and most importantly, before you go printing brochures, get the opinion of trusted colleagues or partners or even friends. Their inputs may not amount to anything especially if you are decided; but their comments may somehow influence you. I would rather commit a mistake with a dummy print brochure than to have committed a fatal error with 10,000 print brochures.
