Haunted Borley Rectory and the Farnham Church
London provides ghost hunters some of the most fertile ground in the western world for pursing a passion for the paranormal, and in this case Borley Rectory and the Farnham church are two of the more notable Church hauntings. Farnham is one of the largest parish churches located in Surrey, and like almost every church that counts ghosts as a main attraction, it is claimed that it is one of the most haunted as well. Friars from a variety of time periods have claimed to see colored mists rising from various spots behind the pulpit. Figures are reported to move about this mist, accompanied by sudden drop in temperature. Other priests have reported witnessing ghostly High masses taking place, with an entire audience composed of apparitions. Latin chanting was heard, and throughout its history as a haunted hotspot, visitors have stepped forward claiming to have witnessed the very same mass. Another notable site is the Borley Rectory. The Rectory has the distinction of being one of the most researched and written about sites in all of London. The most famous of the accounts are those that claim to have seen the ghost of Marie Lairre, who allegedly lost her life at the hands of a cruel Waldgrave family member, and her ghost is said to wander the halls and chapels in search of justice. Abandoned in 19237, it was leased by famous psychic Harry Price who later brought a team of more than forty investigators to examine the claims of the haunted rectory. Several of them reported moving objects, plummeting temperatures and in one case, a gas lamp fell off a stand unassisted, causing a fire. Haunted sites abound in London and Mayfair hotels offer the most direct and convenient means to visit them with a well-informed stable of Black Cab drivers. Other visitors to London hotels can take advantage of the extensive rail system to chart a route to all of the cities most famous haunted hotspots.
