Some plasterboard installing tips
Plasterboard sheets should always be placed at right angles to framing members. All framing should true to level.Plasterboard should always have gap of around 11mm between the first wall sheet and the floor to allow for movement.Do not allow a nail or screw to get mixed in any drywall adheshive you may use.If using drywall
adhesive only apply the adhesive when you are ready to fit the sheet of plasterboard.Evenly apply the drywall adhesive across the sheet to ensure a good, even bond.
Do not the nail centre of plasterboard wall sheets. If the plasterboard sheets need pinning back, nail through a temporary plasterboard block and remove the block and nail after the plasterboard adhesive has set. This will prevent popped screw heads. Keep plasterboard screws around doors and window close enough to the edge so that skirtings and mouldings will cover them.
# Make sure all plasterboard screw heads are below the surface. (If you break the paper around a screw head put another screw beside it to avoid popping).Double screw the center of plasterboard ceiling sheets about 35 mm apart, this helps prevent plasterboard screws popping.
Wherever possible keep plasterboard recessed edges together and butt edges together. Avoid plasterboard recessed edges and butt edges adjoining each other.
Citric acid(lemon juice) will retard the setting time of plasterboard back blocking/cornice cement, use about a teaspoon full in a back blocking mix.Use a drywall lift when sheeting a ceiling alone it will make fitting the ceiling so much easier and safer.
