Car dealers intimidate me!
I like to think that I am a confident, assertive and a modern woman. I have my own company with five employees and feel that my life so far has been quite successful. I have a degree in Sports Science and speak English, German and Italian. I feel like an accomplished individual.
However, if ever I visit a car dealer, Auto Dealer Website I feel completely clueless and turn into a quivering mess. For this reason I have a rule to avoid car dealerships at all costs. This rule also extends to car mechanics.
It was therefore with much reluctance that I recently had to break this rule. My wise stepson of 21 years old decided to clean his car with a jet wash. He used very hot water from a super powered jet spray in sub-zero temperatures. Needless to say the rear window shattered into a thousand pieces!
My stepson’s response was simply to leave the car on the driveway to rot. He had been using it for the commute to university and since he had now finished his course, did not really need it any longer. So I decided to get the window fixed and try to sell it.
I placed an advert on auto-trader online for a period of two weeks. After the first week I had received no responses and so I decided, with much reluctance, to take it to a local dealer!
I pulled up at the car yard which had the obligatory bunting flapping overhead and felt the sense of dread come over me. A sales representative was heading towards me. The typical car sales man. Bald head and gold bracelets. After much consideration he told me his best offer was £250. Thankfully I mustered the strength to walk away from his sales speeches and sold the car a week later to a gentleman from Scotland for a price of £1500!
