Know More About Infant Eczema
Eczema in little children starts manifesting when they are simply 2 or 3 months old and the main cause is hereditary. The most common form of eczema is atopic eczema, a hypersensitive condition of the immune system. Though one cannot pinpoint the reason, it is possible that if family members have eczema, asthma or hay fever, the baby may get it too.
Tiny tots can also endure from allergic contact eczema or irritant contact due to contact with a particular allergen. Let’s take a look at few of baby eczema home remedies –
1. Maintain the skin in a hydrated condition: Eczema manifests in the form of dry skin, maintain your infant’s skin hydrated or moisturized. This can be done by applying baby oil or baby lotion prescribed by the doctor. However, certain baby products can also harm the tender skin; the doctor may just advocate a better moisturizing skin cream suited to this condition.
2. Use Cotton Clothes: Ensure that your baby wears cotton clothes instead of woolen or synthetic material that can cause skin irritation and make it hard to breathe. Cotton material is the best to soothe the skin and avoid flare-ups.
3. Do not touch the baby with soapy chemicals or detergents: It is widespread for moms to clean clothes with detergents or use chemical soaps, and then pick the baby. It is better to avoid touching or picking the baby with chemicals on your hand since this can be irritating to the baby’s skin. Make sure your hands are very clean, wash with a natural, chemical-free soap.
4. Bath your toddler in lukewarm water: Bathe your babe in lukewarm water, so that the skin preserves moisture. Avoid using soap-based products especially if your baby is prone to eczema. There are soaps designed for babies with sensitive skin that you can use. Make sure you pat your baby’s skin rather than rub it.
5. Keep pets and dust away: Keep your baby away from pets because the hair can be irritating to the skin. Keep your toddler away from the room if your room has a lot of old books or files. Clean your baby’s room; make use of soft furnishings and keep the temperate chill. As a replacement for sitting on the carpet, make the babe sit on a mat.
6. Swathe baby’s nails with socks: Itching and scraping will exacerbate the eczema in infants, so it is advised to keep your baby’s nails short and cover with socks or cotton mittens.

So, if you are weaning your child, bring in one food at a time and observe if there is any reaction. You can leave out wheat products as they are usually allergic and you can try them for later use and see if what happens. To make sure that your babies are eczema-free, breast-feed them for at least for the first four months. You also have to look at the diet, you intake as a mother.
