The Recognized Problems of Products Designed for Losing Weight
For a lot of years the struggle seems to go on between the FDA, FTC and small parts of the weight loss sector. You really do not need to go far before you find the ads that swear to make the fat melt away in only a week. There are extravagant claims made by companies offering pills, patches and other things that burn the fat almost overnight. One essential item worthy of note is many substances and products never have been given any type of stamp of approval for use. As much as the FTC is concerned, they have a full time job just keeping up with everything else they have to handle. Very many of the items listed, which are often advertised as being natural and herbal, have not been accredited by the FDA.
It is understandable that a person who is obese is frustrated and almost too inclined to try something that may not be very wholesome to consume. To illustrate, they see all kinds of ads for shedding pounds, and perhaps presume they are safe since they are on the shelf. Even so, consider that many substances make it to the shelves without having any testing for safety. It is not abnormal at all to see products with some herbal components that may be unsafe for some people who use them. Ephedra is now banned for use in the US, and that is only one high profile example of which we talk. There are other herbs that could have genuine uses, but the hazards to people are not fully realized or documented.
Also consider something like Phenylpropanolamine Hydro Choride which is a serious threat to some people, and yet you can Google it and find an ad to purchase it. This used to be a very typical ingredient in weight loss supplements and cold remedies about ten years ago. But the common situation with something like this is it was sold under different brands. Phenylpropanolamine was found to perhaps cause a whole host of very severe medical problems as well as sudden death. However, you can readily buy this specific ingredient on the web; we know mainly because we have viewed the ads for it. So just think about the danger that is posed to people who have no idea about possible hazards with using it.
In contrast we do feel that each of us has a duty for our own health and well being. So we feel it is an important situation when some things are still readily available even so many years after they are known to be unsafe. There just are no shortcuts with weight loss, and people need to understand that sometimes you just cannot have a fast and easy route to success. There is nothing effortless about losing a lot of weight, and that would seem to be the unfortunate bottom line. There is no magic about reducing your weight and keeping it off, yet there seems to be no end to the new products that often seem to be emerging.
