Over the years, the eternal debate of Linux v/s Windows has refused to abate. While Bill Gates fanatics swear by Windows whereas fanatics of Linus Torvalds feel the same about his brain child. 3) Reliability- The structure of Linux is better equipped than Windows because the important system functions are put together in such a way that malfunctioning programs cannot crash it.
4) Scalability- Systems under the Linux banner can be copied free of cost, whereas in Windows you have pay for every server/installation/CPU/server.
5) Compatibility- Linux is compliant with POSIX which enables it to work with other applications that are developed on other UNIX based derivatives.
6) Advanced Capability- Linux also comes with an Apache Web server, an email server, SQL database and router/firewall capabilities, in addition to the usual system tools. These usually cost up to thousands of dollars in Windows.
7) Support- People who are not used to the liberties of the Open Source club, the concept of free technology is a bit of an eye-opener. At times, articulating the doubt is a hurdle, but for those who can articulate the questions, the best minds will be there to guide you.
8) Cost- Linux is extremely easy going when it comes to distribution of its various assorted features. A person can package and sell Linux and not run into copyright issues.

10) Growth and advancement- Linux is far ahead and in a position where Windows will never reach. There are few reasons for that such as short developmental cycle, the number of active developers, absence of corporate meddling, the number of active developers and so on.
