An Easy Guide To Packing
Packing constitutes a major part of the hassles that accompany a move. An easy guide to packing can place you in good stead at the time of your own move. If you get the packing right, half the battle is won. So where do you start?
First of all, work on getting organized. Start buying carton boxes, packing tape, markers, and a clipboard. Put the packing boxes and packing tape in each room of your house that you would need for that room. When you would buy markers, get them in different colors and then put one marker in each room. This will enable you to mark the boxes in that room as you create a color code system for the mover and packers – living room boxes marked in red; blue for the boxes in the kitchen etc. Also, get a sheet of paper on your clipboard for each room.
Now, start packing; things that you use infrequently should be packed first. The clothes, sporting goods that are out of season at the time, and bats etc constitute the stuff, you would be packing first. By using the designated color for the room, label the first box “1” with a description of contents, the second box “2” and so on. When you would unpack, the box numbered the highest is to be opened first – the items you use more frequently. Besides the label on each box itself, write down a detailed description of the contents and its number on the sheet of paper on the clipboard. This way you would make sure that each carton box has been delivered at your new address while making it easier on you finding things when you need them most. Take it easy and start packing well in advance as you pack only few boxes each day. You may also want to pack a separate box for items you would need right after you reach you new home; carry the same box with you. The Packers Movers are likely to arrive later than you. Cleaning supplies, basic kitchenware and food items, a set of clothes for each person, bathroom items, bed sheets etc should be packed in this box.
At the time of unpacking, the first thing to do is laying out the rugs; set the furniture where you want them and then handle the boxes. Do the kids’ rooms first before moving on to your room and then the kitchen. Tackle a few boxes only each day so that you don’t get overwhelmed.
