Samsung's chip business in the first half, or over 3.5 billion U.S. dollars of profits
By the global shortage of memory chips, positive impact, Samsung Electronics memory chips business growth significantly, expects its first half 2010 operating profit expected to more than 4 trillion won, or about 3.5 billion U.S. dollars.
Samsung source said Samsung's own chip forecasts full year 2010 earnings from operations will be increased up to 4.4 trillion won, but the South Korean media reported that Samsung Electronics spokesman declined to comment on this matter.
It is reported that Samsung Electronics is the world's largest memory chip maker, its 2009 share of the global DRAM market in 2008 from 29% to 36%, while NAND flash memory chip market share has remained at around 40%.
