Convert Canon MOD video for Mac OS

Canon MOD Camcorders:

2008: FS100 (SDHC), FS10 (SDHC), FS11 (SDHC)

2009: FS200 (SDHC), FS21 (SDHC), FS22 (SDHC)

MOD video can be viewed on a computer with a player that is capable of reproducing MPEG-2 video. Renaming the file extension from video.MOD to video.MPEG might help software like VLC Media Player to recognize it as a valid format. This video can be easily authored for watching on a DVD player without recompression, because it is fully compliant with DVD-video standard.

However, I found many people want to know how to convert Canon MOD on Mac as below.

Q1: Converting .Mod Files Difficulty?

I am very interested in buying a Canon FS200 camcorder, but have heard there is an odd file output. Has anyone had extreme difficulty converting a .mod file on a Mac so that it is compatible to edit in Final Cut Express? Is it even possible? I don’t want to get a camcorder that I won’t be able to edit its video with.

Q2: Canon – iMovie file transfer problem?

Bear with me because this is quite a complicated set of circumstances.

I’m a media student and a few days ago I filmed about 5 minutes of footage on a CANON FS200.

Luckily, a friend of mine recommended me a Canon Mod Converter for Mac which he tried very great. I download the free trial and found it’s very easy to use, and can convert Mod files or some other videos to the formats like MPG, AVI, MOV, 3GP for playback on various media players such as import JVC Mod to iMovie, iTunes, QuickTime, Final Cut Pro, iPod, iPhone for Mac OS. Then I bought it without any hesitating. If you have the same problem with me, maybe you can try it. Learn the details about how to convert MOD on Mac! Hope to help you.
