How Outsourcing is Changing Our Thought Process
India is considered to be an outsourcing hub. Whether you owe this success to BPOs, KPOs or IT industry, outsourcing has become an important part of Indian lives. It has reached to the level where it is subjected to numerous jokes and witty remarks.
You will find outsourcing jokes forming a large part of Internet humor. Jokes are an expression of light fun and shouldn’t be taken seriously. After all, anything becomes a matter of joke only when it has gained immense popularity for a specific reason.
According to Atul Vashistha, CEO, Neoit, a Bangalore-based global offshore advisory company,” Jokes are a form of expression. When something is being joked about or parodied, it signifies that it has gone from niche to mainstream. I believe that is what has happened to outsourcing and offshoring. Outsourcing and offshoring are no longer just the domains of corporates. They are touching a much larger population and so you see these jokes on both sides of the world.”
Outsourcing is not a new concept. It has been there for a long time. Any work that you can’t do and you pass it on to someone else, becomes outsourced work. People have a misconception of outsourcing with the process of off-shoring the work outside the nation. Outsourcing refers to the work done outside your company and offshoring means something outside your country.
Outsourcing is required for many reasons. You can’t do everything all by yourself. You definitely need other’s help to run your business smoothly and grow it further. It also helps you in concentrating on the major areas of work such as planning and gets other people to do the monotonous and boring parts of the job. You can get operational and improved quality work at great prices by contracting out your work.
Outsourcing has its own pros and cons. A good and reliable outsourcing company can reduce risks and save costs for clients. Outsourcing generally costs lower than hiring and training people for an in-house department and the company may not have enough resources. Also outsourcing companies are very specialized and have more knowledge about the industry. Outsourcing has created newer opportunities for companies and has created employment for people. But there are people who think outsourcing is evil. They feel that most jobs are going out of their company and due to this, they have to face unemployment problem in their own country.
