Educational playgrounds

If you thought playgrounds were just for fun, then you’ll be surprised to find out about the new advances in school playground equipment and its educational slant.  You can forget about boring PE lessons, now primary school children can get creative and enjoy using sports equipment designed to stimulate their brains along with exercise.

Monsterplay, a UK eco-friendly playground designers has released their MultiActive range of outdoor sports systems, designed to inspire confidence.  No matter the ability of the child, the playground system is a fun way to develop team skills and system also promotes mathematical thinking.  As children learn much quicker through play, the modular sports equipment can enhance sports time and also make play time that much more rewarding.

A key concern with playground equipment is the impact on the environment and thankfully, some children’s outdoor play equipment has moved with the times and has become eco friendly.  As we care for the balance between education and play, the equipment the children use needs to be safe and environmentally sound.  Ensuring play areas are made from recycled steel and any wooden play systems are from sustainable forests.  If plastics are used in the construction of play systems it needs to be made from recycled materials, this ensures it stays out of the rubbish dumps and helps the children in the future environment.

It is not just school playground equipment that is seeing a significant change in direction, it is also local playgrounds.  Councils and community play areas are seeing improvements made by the addition or sometimes the complete renovation of playgrounds.  Providing children with stimulating activity areas, designed to create imaginative thinking and the improvement of agility and core stability.

By incorporating education, environmentally friendly playground designs and fun activities should inspire any child to get creative, to move more and to allow the child to build on their confidence.  By understanding the needs of the child rather than pure functionality, playgrounds are much better suited to the modern child, where stimulation is paramount.
