Cleaners and Polisher, You Killer
Floor cleaners are essential to most homes for having that unforgettable shining floor. We all love shiny things especially our floors and furniture. That’s why besides floor cleaners, another item that is a must in every house is the common bottle of furniture polish. Little do people know the poisonous composition of these 2 items. They are so poisonous, that even though the amount of these substances in cleaners and polishes can be said to be microscopic, they still make a pretty big impact on the people who use them.
Floor cleaners are toxic by nature. They contain the harmful substance known as Diethylene glycol. This is the toxic component of all floor cleaners. Toxicity can cause a variety of mutations and poisoning to the body of any living thing. End results might be certain death. The concussion is volatile. Which means breathing it is not something impossible. When Diethylene glycol gets into your lungs, trust me, you can expect to be hospitalized in days or maybe even hours. It has extremely corrosive properties and will corrode the lungs. It is also known to cause urinary and digestive system damage. Permanent damage!
Floor cleaners also contain petroleum solvents. The word petroleum alone can make you deduce that is not highly, but extremely ignitable! It is also a carcinogenic compound. For those of you who don’t know what carcinogenic means, too bad. Nah am just kidding. Carcinogenic means a cancerous compound. Known to be the spark that ignites cancer, it is once of the culprit for smokers ending up with cancer. It is also said to be the cause of skin irritation. Eye irritation has also been experienced by some people. Other may include nose and throat irritation. It also contains ammonia which has similar properties as Diethylene glycol.
Furniture polish is just a lethal as floor cleaner. Even the odour can give a person severe headaches and in some extreme cases, loss of consciousness. Furniture polish contains Petroleum distillates or mineral spirits. These chemicals are responsible for a number of health complications. For one they are highly ignitable. They are also toxic in nature. To make you feel “better”, they are carcinogenic. They are notorious for causing eye irritations as well as skin irritations. Also known to cause flu and other nose irritations and extreme sore throat and other throat irritations.
So the next time you clean your floor or polish your furniture, remember to wear a mask, read the instructions carefully and practice the necessary safety precautions.
