Steps to activate Parental Controls in Mac OS X Leopard
Mac OS X Leopard is the latest and most advanced operating system for Mac PC’s and laptops. Most people are aware of the security feature this OS provides and are quiet satisfied from the protection they get from any online and offline threats. However, for many parents Mac OS X is a big mystery when it comes to controlling online and offline activities of their kids.
Most OS are not equipped with advanced security features to meet the demand of consumers who are exposed to a large number of threats online. However, most OS fails to admit the threats posed to kids from online sources like viruses, spyware, po.rnographic sites and online predators. To prevent such things from happening Apple has included a special parental control feature for parents to shield their kids from vulnerable online activity.
Most parents are either clueless about the existence of this feature or unaware of how to activate it. Well, here are some basic steps which will help you to activate this feature and shield your kids from exposure:
1. Click System Preference icon on the Dock or from the main Apple menu.
2. After opening System Preference click on the Systems section.
3. After opening the Systems section, click on Parental Controls icon which will open a different window with various Parental Control options.
4. Click on the lock icon that appears in the left hand side in the bottom. Enter Administrator username and password to get access to the controls. After entering username and password click on OK.
5. Select a user account for which you want to enable parental control.
6. After you select a user account you will see various options to control like System, Content, Mail, Chat along with Logs and Time Limits.
Just by following these simple steps you can ensure your kids do not venture into forbidden territory. You can also use a third party software to monitor your kids activity and block them from viewing objectionable contents.
