Deciding on the Elevation of your Hot Tub
Suddenly, the sales clerk inquires you of a question that you haven’t thought of yet – above ground or below ground? You panic and your mind went topsy-turvy! You hadn’t prepared for such a situation! Which one should you choose? Good thing, it’s not really hard to select between the two.
Above-ground tubs are large pools that sit on the ground. All of the components of the spa equipment is assembled all over the tub and stands parallel to the ground as well.
Below-ground hot tubs are built into the ground and are designed so that the equipment can also be situated below ground, as well. Let’s check out the advantages and disadvantages of having either of the two.
Well, above ground hot tubs are generally cheaper. They don’t require a large amount of landscaping, or ditch digging, to set up. The persons-in-charge will just transport your portable spa, build the foundation, construct the pool, connect the pumps and filters, and that’s it! The work is done. It is very fast that you can actually take pleasure in your spa without delay. But the negative side in having above ground hot tubs is that it may look a little shabby if you leave it the way it is. Normally, you would likely construct a deck surrounding it. You must also provide additional shrubbery so the view will be appealing, peaceful and perfect for soothing your mind and body.
Below ground tends to be a bit more expensive than above ground as the set up is generally more involved. Unlike the other one which is easily built and the people who delivered it goes home right away, this would still entail burrowing the ground with the adequate depth to construct the tub. Below ground hot tubs tend to be made of concrete, as most other hot tub materials tend to degrade over time while submerged in the ground. Obviously, obtaining a below ground hot tub entails a lot of tasks and labor. In addition, should you feel the need to move, it’s pretty much impossible to bring a below ground hot tub with you.
The upside, however, is that below ground require less work to look nice. Instead of having to build a deck; it requires little more than surrounding the area with a few choice plants. Below ground can also actually increase the overall value of your property by a lot more than the initial purchase. Thus, it’s definitely useful in overcoming inflation.
Choosing between the above ground or the below ground is evidently a complicated one. However, it mostly boils down to personal preference. Which one do you find more attractive: a nice deck with an above-ground hot tub, or a nice area of plants with a below-ground hot tub? Ultimately, the decision is in your hands.
