International Toy Fair

Audi has unveiled its latest range of e-tron concept studies, an all-electric 1:2 scale version of the 1936 Auto Union Type C Grand Prix car at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg from 3rd to 8th February 2011. The electrically-propelled of the Thirties racing classic is based on the limited edition pedal car, the electric motor develops a modest 1.5PS, and a top speed of 18mph.

The car is 2.32 m long and 97 cm wide, which is just 1.12m shorter than the Audi A1, is made from aluminium and carbon-effect material and the body is hand-finished. The 1.5PS electric motor drives the rear wheels, which is charged by a lithium-ion battery and develops as much as 60 Nm (44.25 lb-ft) of torque for short periods.

Audi also showcased a range of innovative baby and children’s products at Nuremberg that have been engineered by quattro GmbH, such as a racing bodysuit, ‘power/brake’ socks, a ‘pit stop’ baby bottle and a mini ‘sound absorber kit’ (baby’s dummy) that are all inspired by the world of motorsport. These products will be available to buy in the UK from early 2011, but there are currently no plans to offer the Audi Type C e-tron for sale in the UK, so won’t be seeing it as used cars in Preston any time soon.

An exclusive football table from Audi design was another of the brand with four rings’ toy innovations in Nuremberg, it lives up to its Vorsprung durch Technik credentials with sleek styling and a high-quality finish in aluminium and high-strength plastic.
