Supermarket Sweep!
As the only woman in the household I am responsible for the weekly supermarket shop.We are a family of five and are looking for quality produce at a reasonable price. Sometimes that can be hard to find. We like to eat simple meals which are healthy, tasty and most importantly homemade.
All the supermarkets have their advantages and disadvantages. For example, Morrisons has a great fish market, Sainsbury’s offers great meat and I love the clothes ranges from Tesco. Whilst considering supermarkets, I realised that Lidl was largely under valued. People tend to consider it as a downmarket store selling cheap food but not only does it offer great value, they sell quality produce.
For example, consider their branded products, yes, they do sell some. Lidl offers a box of 18 Coca-Cola cans for the ridiculously cheap price of only £5.00! Some service stations charge nearly £4.00 for a pack of six. Their fruit and vegetables are good quality and in my opinion their own brand fish fingers are much better than a certain Captain’s. More good news, they offer an excellent price on very good quality Prosecco, another reason why they are top on my list.
Last week I had a trolley filled with fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen goods, meat, toiletries and wine and I paid only £80.00 at the check out. Unbelievable. The only problem was stuffing everything into my tiny little smart, Smart Car Dealer car. Maybe I will have to go in my husband’s car from now on, if he’ll let me.
