You may have started hearing the term mobile phone recycling over the last few months. Possibly you have checked into it a little bit, but you still want to know how mobile phone recycling works. Well, in a simple sentence: mobile phone recycling is all about you being able to sell your mobile to a mobile phone recycling company and get cash for phones. It’s an easy process, it’s quick and you can get rid of some of those phones you have stacked up in your closet (like I did!). When I decided to sell my mobile or do phone recycling, I decided to actually do some research first.
I found that when it comes to phone recycling, there are literally hundreds of thousands of sites out there that offer this service, but it doesn’t mean that they are all “legit”. There are some things you will want to look for before you do recycle mobile to these companies. First off, make sure they take some of the top manufactures such as Apple, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sanyo, Kyocera, LG, and more, on carriers including Cingular (AT&T), Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint, and many others. Many of these sites will not take your old phones though for phone recycling. As mentioned on one website online:
“Don’t see your phone? Generally if your phone is not on our listing and is over 2 years old we no longer accept it. If your phone is less than 6 months old and is not on our listing, contact our customer service department for current pricing.”
In other words, they only take newer phones, well generally anyway. Phones like iPhone recycling is a big niche. iPhone recycling is such a big niche because of the company and the phone. They are both sought after and they are both considered “high end” titles. Apple versus Motorola? Apple will most likely win! Second off, if a phone recycling company or a cash for phones company is truly legit, they will offer to send you a postage paid box or envelope for the mobile phone.
If YOU have to pay for shipping and handling when you sell your mobile – don’t even bother. You are ultimately doing them a service and they are doing you one. It’s a business transaction between buyer and seller. But, they are the one providing the service, so they should offer the postage already paid! Next, see what types of payments they offer and how long the turn around time is for cash for phones. Some places will give you a cheque, paypal, alertpay or a direct deposit.
Some places will offer a 1 day turn around (once they receive the phone), three days, one week, etc. It depends on the company I sell my mobile to and what they offer in terms of guidelines and rules. Once you sell mobile phone to them, they will then give you a technical review of the phone and determine the payment and send it to you through one of those payment options.
