Feel the Royalty at Jai Vilas Palace in Gwalior
Jai Vilas Palace is a European style palace converted into museum. The Palace is situated on the south of the Gwalior Fort and was constructed in 1809. It has been served as a military base. Lt. Col. Sir Michael Filose had designed this palace. The current maharaja still lives in a portion of the palace; a large part of the palace is now a museum.
There are 35 rooms have been made into the Jiwaji Rao Scindia Museum. The rest of the rooms reflect the splendor and glory, which comes alive in the Italianate structures. The palace is made from sandstone and also painted with brilliant white to match the marble. There is a remarkable collection of artifacts, culled from all over the world. The roof was tested in before by getting 10 elephants to climb upon it via a two-kilometer ramp.
