Mobile Phone Recycling Is The Future
It turns out that throwing your phone away is definitely not a good thing. I actually never did this just because I was always too scared that someone would somehow get data off of it and steal my identity or something! Funny I know, but it’s true! On top of being a tad scary, a lot of countries also have a law against this. For example, in the UK it states:
“The recycling rates of the number of mobile phones in the United Kingdom has had a record increase after the Christmas season. Every year the number of mobile phones available for purchase has increased exponentially. With every new model that is introduced there are many more subsequent models that follow. This has lead to an influx of unused mobile phones every year. This has lead to over ninety million mobile phones that are hidden in drawers and lying idle on desks all across the United Kingdom. All of these unused phones eventually end up in landfills taking up much needed space and their batteries also contaminate drinking water by leaking harmful chemicals into the soil. This has created an environmental hazard that was too great to ignore. Because of this many new phone recycling programs were launched with the intention of creating awareness and increasing the number of mobile phones being recycled in the United Kingdom.”
The US isn’t really doing much with phone recycling yet, but hopefully they will get on the bandwagon because it seems like a superb idea. The deal:
– You help save the earth and those around you by using cash for phones to help recycling mobile the right way. The company will take your phone and either use it for other phones or they will throw it away properly!
– They (the companies) will actually buy your phone when you sell your phone and you can get cash for phones. Mobile phone recycling is mainly done in the UK, but there are other countries trying to catch on to this as well.
The UK and the US as well as Japan seem to have the leading numbers on the amount of people that have mobile phones. So, hopefully the next two countries to catch on will be the US and Japan.
