VW delivers three million units
The start of this year appears to have gone well for car manufacturers, the number of cars produced and sold have seen an increase, even in this tough economic climate. The VW Group is the latest manufacturer to report positive increases in the number of vehicles delivered. VW Group reported a rise in global deliveries from January to May 2011.
According to the VW Group report deliveries to customers for the period surpassed three million for the first time, at 3.37 million units, which is a 14.6% increase over the same period for 2010. During May the VW Group delivered 708,900 units. Overall the group delivered 1.56 million vehicles throughout Europe between January and May 2011, which is a 9.6% increase year on year.
In Western Europe – excluding Germany – deliveries reached 882,000. In Central and Eastern Europe, 202,300 VW models were delivered. In its home market of Germany, 475,100 vehicles were sold and delivered.
Vehicle deliveries in the United States also increased the North American market saw a 19.7% increase to 261,000 units, 172,000 units were sold in the states alone. With a further 376,890 units delivered in the South American region.
Deliveries in the Asia / Pacific region saw a very healthy 21.6% rise, with 1.04 million vehicles handed over to customers between January to May 2011, with 921,100 units delivered in China. These are very encouraging figures for Volkswagen Golf in Scotland. It is only a handful of car manufacturers that have been able to report year on year delivery and sales increases.
