Mazda CX-7 is best tow car

At the 2011 Tow Car awards the Mazda CX-7 was voted “editor’s choice”, it was described as being one of the best 4×4 vehicles available at a sensible price. The model tested for the 2011 Towcar Awards was a Mazda CX-7 2.2D Sport Tech, featuring 19 inch alloy wheels and Xenon headlights, with a choice of five exterior colours, priced at £27,580.

Nigel Donnelly, Practical Caravan magazine editor said: “The Mazda CX-7 is a good match for many a mid-range tourer and unlike many cars in its class, it’s an engaging drive with precise steering, good brakes and generous standard kit.”

The Mazda CX-7 was scored a four out of five rating for towing, solo driving, buying and owning. The CX-7 has proven to hold its value well and provide reliable driving even as a used Mazda in Croydon. The 4 wheel drive system in the CX-7 was commended for its attributes. The Active Torque 4-wheel drive system distributes up to 50% of engine torque to the rear wheels in order to maintain traction.

Mazda UK’s Sales Director, Peter Allibon accepted the accolade and said, “In the best Mazda tradition, our diesel-powered Mazda CX-7 enables us to offer a distinctive vehicle that is very different from the huge line-up of SUV-category vehicles currently available. Its spirited performance, excellent torque levels and responsive drive combined with everyday practicality make this model perfect for towing or day-to-day driving.”

Allibon goes on to talk about the design philosophy behind the CX-7, “The CX-7’s appearance is heavily orientated towards sports car styling, while offering excellent driving dynamics, a commanding SUV-style driving position and a strong road presence that conveys Mazda’s ‘defy convention’ brand identity. It’s the ultimate expression of ‘Zoom-Zoom’ driving excitement in a sophisticated Sports Crossover.”
