DIY Installation of Synthetic Grass for Pets
Natural grass is at a great disadvantage because of your pets at home. They can destroy your lawn digging craters in the lawn. Many times, you can also find traces of urine and animal wastes on it that totally unmakes your once beautiful lawn.
Good thing there is artificial grass that provides a sturdy and visually appealing alternative to natural grass.
When installing synthetic grass on your lawn, make sure to do the following:
1. Remote the existing grass.
Cut the existing grass into smaller pieces using a sod cutter so that you can easily remove it by shoveling.
2. Dig out a depth of 4 inches on the same area where you want to install the artificial turf.
This way you can remove any large rocks and roots. After that, the area should be compacted to level out the ground and
provide a suitable surface for the fake grass.
3. Fill the bottom of the ground with clean sand of 1 inch high and put 2 inches of filler rock on top of the sand.
The pile of sand and rock drains pet urine and water into the ground.
4. Roll out the squares of artificial grass over the rock base, covering the entire surface of the lawn area. If there are excess fake grass, trim it using a knife.
5. In each strip of synthetic grass, apply a thin layer of glue so that each square of grass are glued to the next square.
6. Spread a layer of turf infill over the grass and compact it. The turf infill settles into the gaps between the squares of artificial grass to make it more bouncy. If there are excess of infill, sweep it up right away.
