LPN Duties
LPN’s are the nurses that give the most practical assistance to any patient in their care. They are also the ones that take care of the patient’s daily needs and communicate these needs with the doctors and registered nurses that are on duty.
LPN’s are the most important nurses on the ward and, because of this, they are exceptionally trained. They will need to know how to take the vital signs of their patients on a regular basis, and the proper care for wounds as well. They will have to have exceptional communication skills and be friendly as well.
LPN’s are the go-betweens for the doctors. They will be the ones preparing patients for any tests that they might need. They will also have to take samples and get them to the lab so that the doctors will be able to better diagnose them. LPN’s are the nurses that administer shots and monitor things like oxygen and catheters as well.
The list goes on and on about all the things that LPN’s are supposed to take care of and that can be an intimidating thing for some people. With so much responsibility hanging on your shoulders, you might be wondering why you would put yourself through it all.
Your training to become an LPN is long and hard. You are going to need to put all of your effort into this type of job and, if you’re doing it just for a paycheck, you are going to be a bit upset. The pay is good for an LPN, but you will need to be able to love your job in order to get the fulfillment out of it that you want. This isn’t a job that just anyone can do; you have to be a special kind of person to give this much.
If becoming an LPN is important to you then you are going to need to fully understand what you are preparing yourself for. This isn’t a career that you choose just to pass some time and make a bit of money. This is a career that you will need to work hard at and never give up. You will be taking care of a lot of people and will need some composure.
