Keep Your Camera Safe in a Camera Bag
Losing your camera is a particularly upsetting experience. Obviously this is partly because it is a relatively expensive gadget and is comparable in price to a phone or even a computer. This means that if you lose your camera then it’s a big waste of money and means you may well have to spend even more money replacing it – understandably depressing.
At the same time though losing a camera is worse than just losing money because it also has sentimental value. This is because your camera is likely to contain either on its internal storage, or on an SD card that’s been put into it, all of your photos for the last few weeks. This then means that losing your camera means losing all of those photos and that’s very distressing. If you’re on a holiday – where this often happens – then that means losing the pictures you’ve taken so far of you in a foreign land that you’ll probably never see again and where you will have done all kinds of incredible things. At the same time though it also means that you won’t have your camera anymore to take any more pictures – it’s not like you can easily make up for what happened without spending a lot of money and so that means you’ll have to just use your mind’s eye to remember the holiday. Which is never quite the same as apart from anything else you can’t show anyone else what’s on your mind’s eye and you can’t prove it. On most holidays we’ll have at least one or two pictures that we’re excited about sharing – you know the one that makes you think immediately ‘Facebook profile picture’. Losing that can be a powerful blow.
This often happens on holiday where it matters most for several reasons. Firstly because that’s where we carry our cameras around the most thus meaning thieves are more aware of them and we’re given more opportunities to potentially drop them. At the same time we are more likely to drop them here as that’s where we’ll be doing all the adventurous things like climbing or trekking.
