Philippine Airlines – More Than Half a Century of Excellence
Some airlines that appeared to be mainstays have since crumbled. But because the airline industry is so difficult, that is just the way things happen. Hard times have hit everyone, including Philippine Airlines. They were in receivership from the late 90s and only recently came out of it in 2007. Yet they do not seem to have lost any of their fighting spirit with which they were born in 1941. They have been aggressively upgrading their fleet to current standards as well as purchasing the latest technologically equipped and designed long distance aircraft.
Philippine Airlines has enjoyed quite a few interesting events during the 2010 year. PAL acquired their second “heavy” airliner, the Boeing 777, in January; the 777 represents state of the art long distance airline technology. In late March they announced additional international destinations which brought their total to 26. To make things even better for their customers, in November they put their new advanced seat selection system into service. You can take advantage of PAL’s seat selection system if you choose to book your flight online.
Like many other major airlines, Philippine Airlines offers many hotel and tour packages to their passengers. Packages and programs were carefully chosen to ensure passengers of PAL had the greatest possible variety. This helps ensure that no matter what your preference, you should be able to find something that suits your tastes. This falls in line with PAL’s exclusive catering to corporate frequent fliers. They went so far as to create a special department to provide custom business frequent flier packages. This allows them to completely accommodate their corporate business customers.
The SportsPlus plan is the latest incarnation of The Flying Sportsman program. This multi-tiered program provides additional luggage space allotment for sports equipment and requires a subscription. This accommodation is available on all PAL flights. The program is for those who engage in scuba diving, golfing, bowling, fishermen, and really just about any sport that requires larger space for their equipment. Only members of the Mabuhay Miles program can make use of this additional service.
As you can see, Philippine Airlines has weathered many types of storms in their history that spans over half a decade. It’s even more impressive considering they started in 1941 with only one small Beechcraft airplane. Life seems to be reflected in many ways in this not altogether sad story. No matter what happened around or to them, they never gave up. They were able to survive through a world war, suggesting nothing else is quite as bad.
I have used this backlinking service as well as this blog commenting service to rank my Philippine Airlines article to the top of the charts.
