Australia’s Best Beaches
Australia is a huge country which means it boasts one of the largest coastlines in the world, and with that comes some amazing beaches. There is literally a beach to suit everyone here in Australia. Picking the best beaches is no easy task as there really are hundreds to choose from.
Below are three beaches chosen form my all time top 10 beaches.
Cable Beach, Broome
Broome, on the West Coast of Australia is best visited in the dry season between May and October. Travel outside of these times is certainly possible but expect rain and high humidity levels.
The beach itself is beautiful with 22km of beautiful sand. Come between March and October and you will get to witness the illusion of the “Stairway to the Moon” This is a beautiful view at Roebuck Bay where the mud flats at low tides give the illusion of a staircase up to the moon. This only takes place during a full moon so there are usually about 3 days per month where the spectacle is visible. This is usually at the beginning of the month.
Another must do here in Broome is to witness the sunset. There are some great ways to experience a sunset but perhaps the most novel is sitting on top of a camel. Enjoy a camel ride followed by a proper Aussie BBQ and watch the sun set over the sea.
Whitehaven Beach, The Whitsundays
If you want turquoise water that is so warm you could be having a bath, combined with the whitest sand you have ever seen, then head to the Whitsundays.
The Whitsundays are a set of 74 islands, most of which are uninhabited. There are a few that have their own resort on them and it is probably one of the most stunning areas in Australia. It is also one of the most expensive!
All of the beaches in the Whitsundays are special but Whitehaven is just that little bit extra special. To spend time here you will need to take a day trip as there are no facilities on the island. Why not bring your own picnic and enjoy spending a couple of restful hours here.
Bondi Beach
You can’t come to Sydney and not visit Bondi Beach. It really is an icon of Australia let alone Sydney. Come here on a warm day and you will find it bustling with locals and tourists a like.
The beach itself is a large crescent shape and is a great place for experienced surfers. I wouldnt recommend learning to surf here though as the waves are pretty big.. Still, its a great place to watch the experts.
On both ends of the beach youll find an RSL club. These are Returned and Serviced League clubs and are not just for those who have served in the Australian Defence Services. They are found throughout Australia. and providing you have some photo ID, you can enjoy a drink and some food at bargain prices. In this case, you can have the best view of Bondi beach.
