Quick guide to Evoque engines

The Range Rover Evoque has caused a bit of a stir since its release; not only by looking the way it does, but also having the performance credentials to rival its big brothers.

Yes, Victoria Beckham was taken on as a design consultant for the project, but it’s the performance of this little Rangey that really tantilises.

Range Rover engines have always been something one could rely on; the driving force of one of Britain’s most instantly recognisable marques – and things are no different this time around.

The Evoque’s range 2.2-litre diesel engines offer more than enough punch for the city slickers out there who enjoy opening the taps once in a while, but it’s the surprising level of off-road torque the power unit conjures up should you decide to take it to somewhere slightly less forgiving than the silky smooth tarmac of inner-suburbia.

The base model of the Evoque (around £27,000 OTR) comes complete with a very capable 2.2-litre diesel engine, which drums up 150bhp through a 6-speed gearbox.

The top model, named the Evoque Dynamic, again has a 2.2-litre diesel offering, but this time has 40 more raging horses under the hood – perfect for when you may be looking for a little extra kick around town.

The Dynamic also has a 2.0-litre 4WD option which produces 240bhp, again through the aid of a 6-speed gearbox.

It looks like that trip to the country may have just become even more fun with the help of some more, excellent Range Rover engines.
