St. Augustine is city in the northeast part of Florida. Founded in 1565 by admiral Pedro Menendez de Aviles, this city is the oldest continuously occupied European-build city and port in the whole of the United States. This old city’s territory covers the Amelia Island in the north to Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and Palm Coast in the south. • Fountain of Youth Archeological Park – The Park is a 15 acre, Historical attraction in St. Augustine, Florida. The park features archeological findings such as Ponce de Leon’s recording landmark and artifacts, first Christian Indian burials in North America, Timucua Indian hut foundations and relics, and the legendary fountain of youth itself.
• Alligator Farm Zoological Park – The Park is one of Florida’s oldest zoological attractions. Established over a century ago, the Alligator Farm has entertained millions of visitors with its captive reptiles. In recognition of the farm’s contribution to Florida’s visitor industry, it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
• Castillo de San Marcos – The Castillo de San Marcos is St. Augustine’s most historically significant landmark. It is a fort constructed by the Spanish between 1672 and 1695. The fort is made up of coquina, a type of shell stone indigenous to the area. Since its construction, the Castillo de San Marcos has played an important role as a military post for several different flags. Visit the fort to have a glimpse of the past.
