Mountain Roads in the UK
We drivers in London and other major cities are being deprived of quality driving experiences. Our driving experience usually involves a lot of traffic, frustration and speed limits. Even the guys on Top Gear take their cars abroad to find a nice stretch of road. But, I think we should explore the UK a little more, there are definitely some very scenic routes.
As much as we might hate the Motorways they can provide us with some lovely surfaces to test a car’s refinement; wind noise, tyre noise and general road noise. The M6 Toll is one of my favourite to stretch the legs of a car, but be careful there are lots of patrol cars around! Because it is a fairly new stretch of motorway it is wide and smooth, it almost challenges you to put your foot down.
I have some relatives up in Scotland and once a year my family and I take a trip up there. As I’m with my family I don’t try to find roads to test the speed of a car, I look for more scenic routes. Travelling around the west coast of Scotland you can get some amazing views of the Northern Sea. The mountain and hill side roads give you an elevated view of everything around you.
The roads on the west coast can be tight and twisty so you have to take them slowly and take in the surroundings. The countryside setting makes up a great view, with a lot of greenery, animals as well as the sun and sea. My advice would be to find a car hire in Scotland and explore our UK roads before deciding to go abroad.
