Casey Anthony’s word worth millions, reports say
It appears that Casey Anthony, only a week out of jail Casey Anthony’s word worth millions, reports say after being acquitted of her young daughter’s slaying, may be on the verge of a big payday.
The Los Angeles Times has reported that a television producer says he has scored the first television interview with Anthony, a $1 million deal arranged when he met her in a Palm Springs, Calif., hotel.
Al Taylor divulged few details about the alleged agreement, which he announced Wednesday by telephone on Dr. Drew Pinksy’s HLN show.
“I got a call early Tuesday morning, from a representative that said if you want to meet with her, be in this certain area in 15 minutes,” Taylor said on the show. “I was game. I showed up. I wasn’t for sure if I was going to meet her, and sure enough, she was there.”
Taylor said Anthony was concerned about two things: the $1 million, and whether she would have to take a lie detector test.
“I want to hook her up to a lie detector after we do the interview, and she was unsure about that, of course, and I said, ‘Well, it helps you in the end,’ ” Taylor said.
“I don’t think it was a deal-breaker, but she definitely wasn’t that interested in doing a lie detector,” he said.
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Anthony’s lawyer, Jose Baez, has been camped out at a New York hotel holding talks with all of the major TV networks — to determine who will get to interview his client.
The website quotes sources as saying NBC, ABC and CBS are all competing for the first interview. The networks would get around their policy of not paying for interviews by offering to pay licensing fees for photos and other material.
On Sunday, TMZ posted this updated report on its website:
“NBC gave a statement to the New York Post, saying, ‘We’ve talked with Baez about getting an interview with Casey Anthony, but only under NBC News standards and conditions — no payment, and absolutely no job offers for any member of her defense team.’
“Read carefully — NBC is saying ‘no payment,’ but it refers to an ‘interview.’ That doesn’t cover paying huge money for pictures, video, etc. That’s S.O.P. in the network game — Casey Anthony’s word worth millions, reports say and we’re told that’s one of the issues Geragos covered with Baez.”
Meanwhile Ohio-based Schalmo Productions has offered to pay Anthony $5 million for an interview, a spokesman told Orlando’s FOX 35 on Thursday.
