AQTF Standards for RTO Issues and Responsibilities
The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) requires all registered training organisations (RTOs) to demonstrate compliance with the national standards. RTOs and teachers who are offering online assessment need to be aware of the AQTF standards. With online assessment, it has many stages that need to be AQTF compliant.
The following are AQTF standards that should be met by registered training organisations:
1. RTOs should have systems in place for quality training and assessment in its various operations such as policies and procedures, organisational chart, risk management, client feedback, and continuous improvement.
2. RTOs should have AQTF compliance with Commonwealth, State/Territory legislation and regulatory requirements. Anti-discrimination, VET training, and legislation are only a few of the operations that are integrated into RTO policies and procedures.
3. Another AQTF standard is that RTOs need to have an existing and effective administrative and records management procedures. These include storage of electronic records, archiving of records, setting staff qualifications, and many more.
4. Recognition of qualifications issued by other RTOs such as credit transfer is another AQTF standard that should be met for compliance.
5. For identifying and achieving desired outcomes, RTOs should apply access and equity principles, information, and learner support services.
6. Another AQTF standard is the competency of the RTO staff. These people are involved in training, assessment and client service.
There are three various stages in online assessment and these are planning, development and implementation. Each stage has AQTF standards that need to be applied. There are standards for development of quality management systems, selection and implementation of appropriate technology, development of learning and assessment strategies, guidelines for learner support, the expertise of staff developing online assessment methods, and administration and records procedures.
