Many of us know how to run and lose weight, what most of us don’t think about is how much running can benefit your health as well as this. In fact I probably could write a book on that subject.

Running is an exercise one can do alone, with friends, outdoors or indoors, virtually any time of day, and it tends to be something people either love or dread. But, there are many who formerly despised running who have come to enjoy it. They were able to push through the mental block and see the health benefits that go with running.

Running Guidelines:

1. Start your running workout with some stretches. You will want to stretch your leg and calf muscles out fully. If you fail to do this you can easily hurt your muscles and put a sudden end to your new running habit!

2) Start slow, then build up. You have to give your body some time to adjust to your new active routine. My suggestion is to go slow for at least two or three minutes, perhaps slightly longer if you are a novice.

3) After a quick 3 minute warm up start to go faster. This is the speed you will slow down to when you are finishing your run. So make sure you can maintain it nicely without too much effort.

4. Follow your jogging speed with a faster but steady running speed. This is what is going to kick start your fat burning process. For anybody running on a treadmill with incline capability, now is a good time to add some, this will help you lose weight quicker.

5. Switch back and forth between a moderate jog and a faster run. If you are just starting out running then aim to run for about 30 minutes, if you are a bit more experienced then you can aim for an hour.

That is the fundamental framework for high intensity interval training workouts. This style of training is what will give your body the best ability to burn fat while you are running.

Running allows you to burn plenty of calories, more so than if you just sit at home watching TV! Running has long been recognized as among the most effective cardiovascular workouts for calorie burning.

Secondly, you are exercising your heart, hands, legs and your lungs. With your lungs being exercise you are able to breathe deeper. By processing more oxygen, your body will become a more effective fat burner.
Another added benefit of running is a lower blood pressure, a relaxing effect as well as better circulation.
