Healthy Alternative Desserts from ironguides

If you are engaging in an ironman training, you know that it could be exhausting sometimes.  You might tend to eat a lot since most of your stored energy is all used up or you might want to eat foods that are not usually on your diet to treat yourself for a job well done. Though a healthy meal is preferable, sometimes your body crave for some sweet dessert.

But of course, during an ironman training, you should watch what you eat and sugar should be kept in a minimim level. Good thing that ironguides, the leading ironman training coach, has suggested some healthy desserts that are perfect for treating yourself and satisfy your sugar cravings without getting it in the way of your triathlon training

Pineapple Raspberry Parfait
8 ounces of low-fat peach or vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup of fresh raspberries and
3/4 cup of fresh, frozen or canned pineapple chunks.

Alternate layers of yogurt, pineapple, yogurt, and raspberries in a tall glass or sundae dish for a gourmet presentation. Makes 1 serving.

Strawberries Dipped in Dark Chocolate
6 strawberries (or more)
dark chocolate for dipping

You can melt dark chocolate chips or bar in the microwave. Dark chocolate is high in anti-oxidants which makes it healthy too. Put chocolate chips or a few chocolate bars in a microwave safe bowl for 10 to 15 seconds. If using chocolate bars, break them into small pieces before putting them into the microwave. Remove from microwave and stir. If the chocolate has not completely melted, put it back into the microwave for a few seconds.

Wash and dry off the strawberries. Put a piece of wax paper on a tray; hold your strawberries by the stem and dip your strawberries in the chocolate. Place each one on top of the wax-paper-lined cookie sheet and put them in refrigerator to harden for about two hours.

Options: Aside from strawberries, you can use other types of fruit.
