The Power to overcome Discouragement
Discouragement is a feeling of disappointment, of wanting to give up. You brought up the Courage to start something new, you set out to change something, you began with childlike eagerness. And then “real life” sets in and difficulties present themselves as if testing your determination. Words of doubt and discouragement come from the ever wary mind but they are also brought to you from the external. “Well meaning” friends warn you to stay “realistic”. Or you have tried something again and again and still have little result..
The remedy against Discouragement is Relaxation followed by its opposite, massiveAction. You first relax your efforts, back up, settle down so that you can gain perspective and gain a birds eye view of the situation.
You quit working and take a walk or go on vacation or take a nap or hang around for awhile. Release. In your moments of rest you let go of the importance of whatever it was you were discouraged about. And as you relax, fixedness turns into openness. Having regained your strength through relaxation you are now ready for massive action. Not just any action, but aligned action. Aligned action requires you to define the idea you wish to take action on and then write down all those actions. Writingsolidifies your new Intention. You take positive massive action on what you were discouraged about. “Massive” means not just one or two things but 5, 10, 15 actions or more.
What follows are a few examples of action-lists that have moved coaching-students from a state of Discouragement back to a state of Courage.
