Planned Trip to Manali

In the Beas River valley, Manali is considered as an important hill station of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is very close to Kullu valley and situated approximately 250 km north state capital Shimla. Manali is governmentally a part of the Kullu region that has a population of about 30,000. It was from this small city an ancient trade route to Ladakh was started and from there to Karakoram Pass on to Armand and Khorana in the Trim Basin. The nearby area of the Manila is of great importance as it reflects Indian culture and heritage and it is said to be the house of the Saptarshi.

Manali is situated at 32.239633 N, 77.188715 E. The city ranges in an altitude from 1,800 m in the highest “Old Manali” section that is about 2,000 m.Manali is popular for its wonderful climate. The city is cool during winters and it has pleasant and moderate type of climate during summers. The range of the temperature is from 4 °C to 30 °C over the year.

Manali is very well linked by road to Delhi through NH-21 and NH 1 that goes on to Leh and is claimed to be world’s highest motorable road. Moving towards to Manali from New Delhi are the cities like   Panipat and Ambala in Haryana, Chandigarh (Union Territory), Ropar in Punjab, and Bilaspur, Sundernagar, and Mandi in Himachal. By the rail, Manali is not easily approachable. The closest broad gauge railheads are at Chandigarh, which is at the distance of (315 km, Pathankot 325 km and Kalka 310 km. The adjacent gauge railhead is at Joginder Nagar that is at the distance of 135 kilometres. The nearby airport is at Bhuntar that is around 50 km from Manali. At present, Kingfisher Red operates everyday services from Delhi, Air India offers twice a week nonstop services and MDLR Airlines offers six days services to Delhi.
