As the need for owning LTC insurance policies are now finally being realized, it is also important to acknowledge the necessity of having long term care insurance for women. This does not only acknowledge the fact that women are one of the foundations of why we have more organized and well-balanced lives, but also, this is a way of showing them that we are grateful for all their hard work and sacrifices.
Women consists the majority of the population in nursing homes and adult day care facilities. It is found out that this is brought about by the fact that women tend to live longer than men, making them widows and more prone to illnesses and diseases.
Most of the women confined in the nursing home facilities have no one to take care of them. A large number of them are widows who were sent by their families who are not able to take care of them due to their hectic and busy schedules. After taking care of their sick loved ones, they are now being sent to the care of medical workers who give their attention and time to take care of these women.

Having their mothers or elderly women around them may just bring them greater risks most especially if their health condition needs special medical care.
One of the reasons why long term care insurance for women are not that popular and have a low number of insured individuals is because of the fact that women tend to resign or stop working once the need for their care arises. This may be because of a sick family member or due to some other family emergencies that require or force them to quit their jobs.
Without stable and reliable financial resources to support and pay for their monthly premiums, most women are left with no choice but to hope that they will not have serious medical ailments and diseases that may require them to shell out a large amount of money. Sad to say, it is almost impossible to guarantee one’s wellness because there are sudden health changes that may happen to an individual, especially because of getting weaker immune system as one grows older.
Because of this, certain information campaign and movements have been created in order to help women realize that they also need to prioritize their health and start thinking about the LTC services that they will be needing in the future. As much as they do not want to be a burden to their children when they grow old, they, as early as now, should be able to purchase an insurance plan that would spare their loved ones of the hardships of taking good care of them.
As long as the need for having long term care insurance for women are not realized and given utmost necessity, more and more women will have to suffer and bear the consequences of taking this for granted, leaving them helpless and powerless of living the kind of life they have dreamed of.
