Beating the Crowd: The Alton Towers Hotel

After one, frankly uneventful, weekend, a few friends and myself decided that the following weekend would be best spent doing something a little more exciting. I guess we’re a group of mainly guys who are at the early stages in their careers to be basically living for the weekend. If that means spending most of it at the pub, then that’s fine, but some of us would rather be living for the moment, if you’ll pardon the cliché. So, in the spirit of ‘living for the moment’ and all that jazz, we decided that we wanted to go and do something fun. After looking at a number of different options for various theme parks, we all came to the conclusion that Alton Towers was the best bet. Why? The Rides? Yes and no; the rides at Alton Towers are truly phenomenal, but after stumbling across a particular advert that precisely fit our requirements of a ‘lad’s weekend’, we really just wanted to stay in the kooky Alton Towers hotel for a laugh.

If you spend just more than a few moments Googling Alton Towers hotel deals, you’ll almost certainly stumble across a whole wealth of different options. Most of them, however, are geared towards two parent and two children families, but we were lucky enough to find one that allowed five guys to stay two nights with dinner and breakfast for a very reasonable price indeed.

Our reasons for looking for Alton Towers hotel offers are twofold: one is that we just thought it would be funny for all of us to stay at a hotel so that we could terrorise each other overnight. The second reason is that we wanted to wake up already inside the theme park, as well as being able to stay very late and crash there without worrying about driving home that evening. It also meant that we could all drink all day long too, which was great. All in all, it proved to be a blinder of a weekend, one which we will definitely be looking at repeating in the future. I couldn’t recommend it more.
