Calendars –Varieties Available Online
Calendars are used mostly to systematize days for religious, administrative and social causes. It is made by means of providing names to days, weeks, months and years. The name provided to a day is preferably called as the “date”. The word “Calendar” was derived from the Latin word “Kalendae”, which was the name of first day of the month in Latin. These date books are used to assist people in administering their schedules, activities, especially when they have more commitments to complete. Most of them use two different types to differentiate between their family and business schedules.
Types available
People of various civilizations and cultures have had different date books over the years, based on various time and date tracking tools. There are different types of calendars such as the solar, lunar, luni-solar and so on. Every type depends on the solar and lunar phase cycles.
- A solar calendar has the dates that point out the position of the earth around the sun when it revolves around it. They can be distinguished into two, namely the Tropical solar and Side Real solar type.
- A lunar calendar is designed based on the cycle of the lunar phase and the most extensively used lunar calendar is the Islamic calendar, which has 12 lunar months in it. The start of the lunar month and length of the lunar month are considered as important facts here in this lunar calendar.
- A luni-solar calendar has both the lunar phase and the time of the solar year together in it.
- There are other types of calendars also available. They are arithmetic calendar and astronomical calendar. An arithmetic calendar has a very strict set of rules to form it. It is also called as rule-based calendar for this particular reason. This strict rule becomes a disadvantage since it can be used to calculate for only a few thousand years and therefore is necessary to update the rules from there onwards to keep it accurate.
- An astronomical calendar is build from the observation in a particular period. The main advantage of it is that it is perfect and accurate. The old religious Jewish calendar and the religious Islamic one are some examples of astronomical calendar.
- Nowadays calendars are used to in various forms. They can now be accessed on portable devices such as mobile phones, computers and laptops to help people schedule their activities.
People also present a calendar to their loved ones. There are various websites out on the internet, which help in creating custom almanacs and date books, according a person’s needs. They can use them to create a calendar for business purposes and promotions too with photos or illustrations of their business. Different companies- in order to inspire the customers- use promotional calendars or date books.
