NCDD – DUI Education
NCDD was founded in 1995 and its membership comprises lawyers with a keen interest in furthering DUI education to better defend people who have been accused of driving under the influence (DUI) and related cases. The DUI education received at the National College for DUI Defense, Inc. (NCDD) was established to provide defense lawyers with the broader legal and scientific understanding needed in order to forcefully represent people who have been wrongfully accused and to protect each citizen’s constitutional right to be presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
NCDD members are able to defend those accused of DUI crimes in every court across the country, from the lowest state court to the United States Supreme Court. The college for DUI education is almost one thousand members strong and represents nearly all the fifty states. Attorneys attending the DUI education seminars at the NCDD take their jobs and their membership very seriously. NCDD requires each member to complete DUI education as a condition of membership. NCDD members are encouraged to become certified as specialists in this area of the law and to become actively involved in their legal communities by educating the public about the crime and ensuing penalties.
All of the attorney members undergoing DUI education at NCDD are aware of the severe consequences to people who are convicted of driving under the influence, operating vehicles while intoxicated and similar offenses. Attorneys realize that not only will harsh penalties be imposed, drivers’ licenses revoked and insurance rates increased but that jobs may also be lost and the convicted person may become ineligible for future employment, educational opportunities, life and health insurance and even denied entry into some foreign countries. Dui education enables the attorney members of NCDD to provide an even more competent defense with a deeper understanding of the scientific and legal processes.
The DUI education seminars of NCDD allow attorneys to question the errors made by arresting officers and laboratory technicians in the testing of people for driving impairment and the amount of intoxicants in the suspect’s blood. Attorney members of NCDD wish to be entirely certain that all cases are decided with valid sobriety tests and accurate chemical tests. Great expertise is required in cases involving DUI charges, which are particularly complex because they require defense counsel to understand the legal and the scientific aspects of the case. The DUI education of NCDD seminars deepens the understanding of such wide-ranging legal issues involving search and seizure, due process, illegal interrogation, denial of counsel and evidentiary issues.
Attorney members of NCDD receive more than a working knowledge of the operation of the breath test equipment, hospital testing equipment and instruments used for forensic laboratories in the testing for intoxicants while attending the DUI education seminars. The DUI education seminars add a new dimension of understanding of the scientific areas such as anatomy, biology, chemistry, physiology and toxicology. The focus of the NCDD is to provide the finest advanced-level DUI education to attorney members and NCDD co-sponsors a minimum of three legal and scientific seminars every year.
