a) Do not give up your day job for at least a year:

Apart from the fact that it will keep you level-headed when you have just won some head-spinning amount of money, the last thing you want is to be surrounded by the vultures in your life.

Take the time to think about what you would like to do with the money. The odd lavish holiday might raise a few eyebrows in the mean time, but so what? Let your boss grumble bitterly about the permanent smug smile on your face lately. Let him discuss your performance with others and wonder whether they are not in fact paying you too much… Your time will come. Who knows, you might even decide that you want to carry on working, perhaps after a long holiday.

If you want to stay in the same line of business, you might even be able to start your own company.

b) Do not tell your wife or immediate family first:

If you really have to let it out, then a good close friend might be the best person to speak to. Preferably someone you trust who is independent and successful in their own line of work.

It’s a great opportunity to weed out, or at least know how strong your relationships with people are. You may even want to claim that you have been made redundant after the year and try to live off your family and friends if they are willing to oblige.

Of course right now, this is just an unusual to-do list for dream situation, but it can come true. Basketball bet is pretty good at the moment. You do not have to look into an NBA bet alone though, a lottery ticket once a week might also be a good idea, if you can afford it.
