A Visit to The Magic Isle

Aloha and welcome to Maui, a true island paradise.  Maui, nicknamed “The Magic Isle”, is the second largest Hawaiian island and is separated into five distinct regions which are West Maui, Central Maui, Upcountry Maui, East Maui and South Maui.  You will want to explore and experience as much as you can of this gorgeous island as there are so many incredible sights to see within each of the separate regions.

A Maui car rental will be an essential to make your trip a dream come true and be able to leisurely experience Maui in all of its magnificent glory.  A drive along the legendary Hana Highway located along Maui’s rugged eastern coastline will be something you absolutely won’t want to miss.  The road to Hana is a scenic drive with 600 curves and 54 bridges.  The road takes you through the lush, tropical rainforests where you will have spectacular views of Maui in it’s natural raw beauty with flowing waterfalls and breathtaking seascapes.  Having a Maui car rental will allow you to take your time on this drive and take advantage of the many opportunities to stop along the way and enjoy the unbelievable views.

Some of the many attractions you won’t want to miss are in Upcountry Maui.  Upcountry Maui is located on the high elevations around Haleakala and is filled with rolling hills, misty mountains and fertile slopes.  You will want to visit some of the plantations and farms located in Upcountry as well as the botanical gardens filled with exotic flowers, orchids and native Hawaiian plants.  The Haleakala National Park is the highest peak above Upcountry and you won’t want to miss watching a breathtaking sunrise from 9,740 feet atop the Haleakala Crater.  You’ll want to be sure you dress warmly when exploring Haleakala since the temperatures dip down to 40 degrees and lower at the highest point.

Another stop on your travels through Maui should include the town of Paia located on Maui’s northern coast.  This charming town is filled with colorful rustic storefronts filled with local art galleries, one-of-a-kind shopping boutiques and many restaurants.  Paia is located just four miles into the drive to Hana from Kahului.  Paia also features the world famous Hookipa Beach that has been designated the windsurfing capital of the world.

The waters between West Maui and South Maui are famous for catching a glimpse of a humpback whale.  The Auau Channel between Maui, Lanai and Molokai is the best place to whale watch in the world.  Lahaina Harbour is home to a wide range of whale watching tours.  There are more than 80 beaches in South Maui spanning over 120 miles of coastline.  Along this coastline you will find white, black and red sand beaches where you will be able to sunbathe, swim, surf, windsurf, snorkel and more.  With your Maui car rental you may want to explore Maui’s beautiful beaches as well in search of undeveloped, secluded beach spots off the beaten path.

Maui offers many different types of accommodations throughout the island to suit just about everyone.  You can find luxury resorts and hotels, quaint bed and breakfast inns, rental cottages and condos.  There are so many magnificent things to see and do on this beautiful island that is really does live up to it’s name of The Magic Isle.
