Got some money to spend? Luxury and performance is here
If you’re one of the lucky ones who has some money to spend on a car in the current economic climate, you should be thinking how to get the most out of your money.
Do you opt for all-out performance or a cabin that would make the Queen jealous? Fortunately you don’t have to compromise anymore thanks to the ongoing excellence of Jaguar’s XF range – cars that make you feel like you’re at the wheel of a very fast bachelor flat (in a good way).
Yes the XF, with its contemporary sports car styling, dynamics and refined performance, manages to bridge the gap between luxury sport car and high quality saloon in an incredibly impressive way.
Inside the cabin you’ll find all the usual gadgets and gizmos you’d expect from a high-spec Jaguar car, but it all feels, well, a bit nicer to be in. Touches such as the Bowers & Wilkins speakers and full Dolby Logic II surround sound puts other non-modded motors’ hi-fi equipment to shame, and the ‘halo’ illumination and plush seats make you want whatever journey you’re doing to take a lot longer than it should.
Unfortunately, due to the immense performance of this very special luxury sport car, it probably won’t take very long at all. Jaguar offers 5.0-litre V8 petrol and 3.0-litre V6 diesel engines, but the 2.2-litre diesel makes most sense. Its responses aren’t quite as instant as those of the V6 diesel cars, but with 188bhp and a crushing 332lb ft of torque, it has the bragging rights over the likes of BMW’s 520d and Audi’s A6 2.0 TDI – and they’re not exactly short of get-up-and-go.
To say that the XF is a great car is like saying Pele was quite good at football. Simply, if you’re looking for a new executive car, it’s being kept in your nearest Jaguar showroom.
